Papeteries de Mauduit Mill

The mill was founded in 1827 and in 1855 was acquired by Joseph de Mauduit who converted it from producing writing papers to cigarette papers. Schweitzer-Mauduit acquired the mill in 1951 and has added significantly to its cigarette paper production capacity, including two high-speed paper machines, and in 1982 expanded into the production of porous plug wrap paper with the first of three long-fiber machines. Today, the mill operates a total of eleven paper machines and a flax pulp mill. It ranks as the world’s largest cigarette paper mill and the European leader in the production of porous plug wrap and battery separator papers.
