The mill, which is jointly owned by Schweitzer-Mauduit and SEITA, formerly the French tobacco monopoly, began operations in 1963. LTR Industries has three production lines, with the third line having been added in late 2003 at a cost of approximately $79 million, and is the world’s largest independent producer of reconstituted tobacco leaf products. The mill site is also the location of a textile fiber processing operation, which supplies fiber to the Papeteries de Mauduit and Papeteries de Saint-Girons pulp mills.
